The Alika Jacket, introduced under the JJ Valaya label in September 2010, has a limited edition run of 12 jackets per style. Iznik : Alika Edition 6 by JJ Valaya is an ode to the aesthetic excellence with detailing inspired by Turkish ceramics. The jacket romances subtle floral hand embroidered motifs in an earthen colour palette, perfectly reflecting the grandeur of the imperial court.
A cross between a shirt and a jacket, it loosely shares its DNA with the Indian traditional garment – the ‘Sadri’. Designer JJ Valaya says, “Every designer’s dream is to create something so stylish it transcends fashion and treads its way into becoming a classic. However, creating something iconic is only half the battle. It’s what follows that really takes an icon to the next level – the constant tweaks that render it as ‘cool’ year after year, as it were the year it was created. The Alika Jacket, I hope, will tread the same path”.
