January 14, 2019: Longines, the luxury Swiss watch brand, has a dedicated history and a strong tradition. The brand has been ever evolving and improving, helping to elevate them to the pinnacle of watchmaking with the production of the 50,000,000th Longines watch.
The 50 millionth watch is a unique piece from The Longines Master Collection, the worthy heir to the brand's know-how, amassed through research into exacting technology and timeless elegance. The timepiece adds to the Longines Museum's considerable historical collection, housed within the company's walls in Saint-Imier (Switzerland).
The timepiece is intended to be an icon representing the brand's rich heritage and a preview of a new model available soon. This model houses the new and exclusive L897 automatic calibre within a 40 mm-diameter rose gold case while offering a 64-hour power reserve and displaying an annual calendar at 3 o'clock. The hours, minutes, and seconds move with the Longines signature blued-steel hands that stand out against a silvered dial stamped with a barleycorn motif. A commemorative inscription adorns the timepiece's transparent case back.
In 2018, the winged hourglass brand therefore exceeded 50 million watches produced – a true testament to its longevity and legitimacy.
