Louis Vuitton delves deep into the past for the Spring Summer 2024 collection

After the Fall Winter 2023 collection, Nicholas Ghesquière once again collaborated with James Chinlund to craft an immersive show set.

Treading back to the 2000s, the new collection by Louis Vuitton’s womenswear creative director, Nicholas Ghesquière, is as whimsical as the set itself.

The collection itself was a masterpiece of contrasts and harmonies. Mr. Ghesquière juxtaposed elements effortlessly, pairing light leather bomber jackets with equally light, ruffled skirts made of mousseline and charmeuse, and chunky belts, reminiscent of the 2000s era.

Monogrammed leather made a bold appearance, lending an air of timeless sophistication to the ensembles. Linear graphics clashed and converged on layered bottoms and buttonless shirting, creating a visual spectacle that defied convention.

Textured corsets and voluminous puff-sleeved tops arrived in muted tones, adding an element of softness to the collection. Mr. Ghesquière innovates with the last set which presents tweed-like jackets. It’s not the usual bouclé fabric though, instead made from technical fibers and embroidered with micro-pearls.
