MB&F launches Legacy Machine No.2 in Red Gold Blue

MB&F launches Legacy Machine No.2 in Red Gold Blue

MB&F Legacy Machine 2 in red gold blue

July 18, 2019: The first edition of MB&F’s Legacy Machine No.2, launched in 2013, is still one of the most forward-looking expressions of traditional mechanical watchmaking in the market. The brand had created one version of the LM2 in 18k red gold then. Six years later, MB&F has come back to the beautiful precious metal with the LM2 Red Gold Blue.

For MB&F, Legacy Machines are wondrous tributes to the inventions by the greatest watchmakers in history, such as Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823), Ferdinand Berthoud (1727-1807) and Antide Janvier (1751-1835). The contemporary look endowed by the otherworldly appearance of Legacy Machine No.2's dual flying balances, suspended high above the dial from four gracefully arcing arms may at first appear paradoxical. However, the LM2 is a timepiece tracing its lineage back over 250 years having one of the rarest mechanisms in the history of watchmaking: the dual regulator.

The stars of the LM2 are undoubtedly the dual “flying” balance wheels. The two fully independent regulating systems beat at their own rate. The complex movement was conceived for MB&F by award-winning watchmakers Jean-François Mojon and Kari Voutilainen. Limited to just 12 pieces, LM2 Red Gold Blue offers a more elegant take on the original industrial aesthetic of the first LM2s and will be the last-ever LM2 to be crafted in 18K red gold.
