April 13, 2016: It was a rare sight: a one-ton racing car took off – into the air. It landed on a roof some 355 feet – or the length of a football field – above London’s iconic Canary Wharf business hub.
The vehicle: Aston Martin’s novel V8 Vantage GTE Challenger. Its uncharacteristic home in the clouds: 31-storey Dollar Bay skyscraper of property developer Mount Anvil.
The adventurous spectacle – which enlisted cranes and straps and mechanics and film crews – marks the global partnership between Aston Martin and Mount Anvil that builds on their dedication to innovative design, exceptional quality and world-class safety. As part of their cooperation, the two organizations will engage in knowledge-sharing exercises throughout the season.
And the new racing season is just around the corner. On April 17, Aston Martin commences the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship at Silverstone with a three-car campaign, looking to extend its top record of 23 overall wins.
With a car that can “fly,” heading the list once again might be just an engine roar away.
