Ruby Chocolate – The Fourth Chocolate We Never Knew

The chocolate market will amount to $131.9 billion by 2019 which makes it one of the highly consumed foods in the entire world. And is hardly something that you would deny when offered. But what if there is another chocolate you did not know of?

Chocolate is a unique combination. It is very comforting yet luxurious. It almost feels like an experience every time you bite the bar. For years we have been indulging in only three chocolates known to us – the Dark, the Milk and the White. Meanwhile there was a fourth one nestled in the cocoa gardens of Brazil, Ecuador and Ice Coast, oblivious to the world’s eye. Barry Callebaut, world’s largest cocoa producing company, took 13 years to perfect the fourth type of chocolate – the Ruby chocolate. This piquant chocolate personifies its name, Ruby, with a rich red colour and a unique aroma. This chocolate is a torrent of fruitful flavours in your mouth, and it is all natural.

Ruby Gianduja chocolate by ITC Fabelle

The ruby chocolate is quite a sight of intrigue for the chocolate connoisseur. The tangy yet fruity taste sets it apart from the earlier chocolates we have known. Master chocolatiers are trying different combinations and techniques to make it irresistible to taste. Fabelle, ITC Hotel’s home grown confectionery brand, has brought its patrons in India the Ruby Gianduja.

The Ruby Gianduja is a flare of never before tasted flavours. Gianduja is a chocolate made with a mixture of hazelnut paste. The brand wanted to fuse the ruby chocolate with something that adheres to the Indian taste palette and preferences. The Gianduja was the best choice to go. Fabelle launched their limited edition Ruby Gianduja with an elaborate event at the ITC Grand Central at Mumbai.

The event was a delight to anyone who loved chocolate. The Ruby chocolate was introduced to us in its exorbitant glory. Followed by which was a highly informative masterclass with Celebrity chef Sarah Todd and Chef Ruby Islam. The chefs led us through the process of making the ruby chocolate right from the fruit to the chocolates on our tables. We then had an entertaining competition to plate the very dessert they created in front of us. It was a happy, fun and a very delicious celebration welcoming the fourth chocolate to India.

Mr. Hemant Malik, Divisional Chief Executive – Foods, ITC Ltd., said, “It is said that Milk chocolates with nuts appeals the most to Indian chocolate aficionados and our Gianduja is made of rich milk chocolate and Ivory Coast Cocoa with Turkish hazelnuts, making it one of our best-selling creations. Thus, we have recreated Gianduja with the infusion of Ruby Chocolates to render another extraordinary experience to  Indian consumers.”

A very recent discovery, the ruby chocolate is created with the ruby cocoa bean. Blending its tart flavour with the smooth sweetness of hazelnut paste, Fabelle’s Ruby Gianduja will surely find many takers this holiday season.
