Savio Firmino sponsors exhibition to begin its 70th year

Celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Savio Firmino’s foundation will start with a sponsorship of excellence: The exhibition “The Ghirlandaio Family, Renaissance Painters in Florence and Scandicci” which is jointly funded by Savio Firmino, major local authorities, and other brands such as Gucci.

“La Città degli Uffizi & Piccoli Grandi Musei” have introduced a new innovative style of itinerant exhibition, so that visitors will discover new places on the footsteps of the Ghirlandaio family, one among the most appreciated families of artists in the Renaissance. The real name of the founder, Domenico “Ghirlandaio” (1449- 1494) was Bigordi. Together with his brothers David (1452 – 1525) and Benedetto (1458 – 1497), Domenico came to be identified with the nickname of his father known for his mastery in creating garlands. Domenico was one of the most popular and finest artists of his time thanks to his natural talent and great ability in dealing with new pictorial techniques.

The Ghirlandaio’s family achieved public success and big fame thanks to their well balanced work organization. Domenico’s management on the artistic side, administration skills of his brothers and his son Ridolfo, created an efficient and profitable “Bottega” (a family factory) which dominated the scene for a century during the Florentine Renaissance, where dozens of artists including the famous Michelangelo Buonarroti, moved their first steps. As the Ghirlandaio’s family formed three generations of artists of Florentine Renaissance, similarly Savio Firmino is on the high and quality market scene for three generations, diffusing tradition of Florentine Art at international level.
