March 1, 2013: Attaining higher heights, literally, Shangri-La is set to launch its new property at The Shard in London, in 2013.
At 1,016 feet high, The Shard is one of the most ambitious architectural endeavours in United Kingdom. Its height will make it one of the tallest buildings in Europe, while its soaring spire shape will make it distinctive and eye-catching.
The deluxe 202-key Shangri-La Hotel, at The Shard, London, will occupy floors 34 to 52 of Renzo Piano's iconic tower. The 185 guestrooms, averaging more than 42 square metres (452 square feet), will be amongst the largest in London. The 17 luxury suites, amongst the finest in London, will have the best views over this global city.
The new hotel will offer diners tantalising cuisines from some of London’s finest restaurants. Food and beverage outlets will include a lobby lounge, an all-day dining restaurant offering international dishes, a gourmet deli featuring artisanal crafted food and a destination bar on level 52 with views across the River Thames and the city of London. Fitness and recreation facilities will include an indoor infinity swimming pool and fitness centre featuring panoramic views of the London skyline. The hotel will offer premium meeting spaces for up to 120 guests for a seated, signature event.
