July 11, 2019: The completely renovated Grand Hotel Quellenhof has reopened its doors after comprehensive renovations that took place over a short period of 5 months and called for an investment of CHF 45 million.
The story of Grand Resort Bad Ragaz began with the discovery of the 36.5-degree thermal water in the Tamina gorge 777 years ago. Famed Swiss interior designer, Claudio Carbone, designed the new concept, centred around both the hotel’s history and its thermal water. A total of three new thermal water fountains, a continuous flow of fresh thermal water for consumption, were installed throughout the resort during the renovations. The new furniture, curtains and light fixtures perfectly harmonize the history of the hotel and its modern, stylish interior. Over 150 years, countless statesmen, movie stars and royal family members have enjoyed their stay at the Quellenhof, one of the crown jewels of the Swiss luxury hotel industry.
The hotel now offers two new restaurants – Verve by Sven and Memories, conceived by top chef Sven Wassmer. Memories will celebrate contemporary Alpine cuisine while Verve by sven will focus on health and lifestyle cuisine. The interior of Verve is characterized by natural materials and a subtle color palette with highlights such as a living wall. The hotel bar, at the center of the restaurant, is harmoniously integrated into the space. Sustainability being the need of the hour, the restaurants are consciously moving away from the traditional breakfast buffet and offering breakfast options with fixed items instead.
A charming glass wine cellar, which can hold around 4,000 bottles and an elegant reception desk, have been added with the aim of making the spaces on the ground floor, the heart of the hotel. The fireplace in the middle of the hotel lobby, illuminated by hundreds of Swarovski crystals, is surrounded by comfortable yet stylish lounge chairs. Unusual light fixtures, inspired by nature, create an entirely new atmosphere in the Grand Hotel Quellenhof. A 16-meter-high chandelier in the lobby, with 2,500 clear and blue spheres of various sizes, presides over all four floors, calling to mind the image of a flowing waterfall. A new King Suite has been added, with which, the entire resort now boasts a total of five top suites.
The renovated hotel, completely booked in the first few days, has received extremely positive initial feedback from guests, who were particularly enthusiastic about the new restaurants. The renovations have successfully preserved the history of the Grand Hotel Quellenhof, while allowing it to continue to grow at the same time.
