Celebrated Swiss luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer has unveiled the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963, a fascinating timepiece commemorating its history with motorsport racing and innovation. Inspired by the adrenaline-fueled world of auto racing championships and specifically the Porsche 963 Hypercar, this one-of-a-kind collaboration with Porsche sees the launch of this new timepiece, available in a a limited series of 963 pieces.
Paying homage to the 101st edition of the 24h of Le Mans race and LMDh Porsche 963 Hypercars, each watch commands precision and performance, featuring elements that capture the thrill of Porsche’s racing legacy. While Porsche 911’s innovative LED light design inspires the four Super-LumiNova (SLN) blocks on the sub-dials, the SLN-coated date revealer illuminates in the dark, reflecting the endurance required for 24-hour races where drivers race day and night.
The arrangement of the red indexes at 04:00 PM on the dial resonates with the excitement and adrenaline accompanied by the countdown to a race start. The distinctive skeleton dial with tubular shapes is evocative of Porsche’s racing car chassis, whereas the bezel, crafted from forged carbon, resembles the lightweight, high-performance components of the Porsche 963. The in-house TH20-00 movement, featuring a personalized red column wheel, highlights the technical savoir-faire of this vertical clutch chronograph movement.
The bezel showcases a luminous Porsche logo, complemented by the Porsche 963 logo on the strap. Additionally, the oscillating mass incorporates Porsche’s iconic steering wheel motif, with a 3D Porsche logo adorning the side of the steel case. The watch features the iconic racing colors of Porsche Motorsport, white, red, and black. The timepiece’s rubber strap with a more integrated and resistant construction, holds a shape that is reminiscent of the NACA-style low-drag air inlets, often incorporated in Porsche race cars.
