May 22, 2019: Age is a driving factor when it comes to whisky. And age is a symbol of experiences and stories. No pun intended to Game of Thrones of course. But coming back to the brand in our hand right now, The Balvenie has always remained true to the techniques passed down by its craftsmen from generation to generation. It remains a place run by people – where human touch, skill, and emotion prevail over machine and automation. In this way, each whisky produced by the Scottish whisky brand tells a human story, evolving with the protagonists and developing unexpected twists through years of maturation. The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky has therefore announced the launch of The Balvenie Stories – a collection of three single malt whiskies representing tales of character, endeavor and craft created at the Balvenie Distillery in Dufftown, Scotland.
The Balvenie Stories collection will be comprised of the following three expressions: The Sweet Toast of American Oak (aged 12 years – $59.99), The Week of Peat (aged 14 years – $99), and A Day of Dark Barley (aged 26 years – $799). Drinkers will have the unique opportunity to hear these stories in full, as told by the protagonists involved, via audio conversations recorded between them and The Balvenie Global Ambassador Gemma Paterson.
To commemorate the Stories launch in the U.S., The Balvenie has partnered with Celebrated Experiences, a premier luxury travel company, to offer a once-in-a-lifetime whisky experience in New York City. The Stories Suite, the location of which will remain secret until booked, will be an immersive experience for guests. Artwork for the Stories range will be displayed throughout and will complement sweeping NYC skyline views. Pieces of the distillery and materials of The Balvenie Stories range, such as peat and barley, will be incorporated into the three-storey penthouse’s designer décor elements, and traditional amenities will have a Balvenie twist.
Available as a highly exclusive two-night package on June 19 and June 20, 2019, whisky enthusiasts who book the $60,000 secret suite will be treated to a guided tasting of the Stories range with The Balvenie Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie alongside a multi-course dinner in the suite's dining room, a chauffeured tour to some of the city's best-known speakeasies specializing in Scotch, and a rare bottle of The Balvenie signed by Malt Master David C. Stewart.
The Balvenie Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE said, "The Balvenie Stories collection tells these tales in liquid form, giving whisky drinkers across the globe a special glimpse into the unique and very human nature of how we produce our whisky. Each expression in the collection reflects this by telling its own story via first-hand accounts and recollections of the many people involved."
