July 23, 2012: MO Bar at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, encourages its culinary team to craft delicious tastes inspired by fashion collections. The latest collaboration takes inspiration from New York designer Marc Jacobs’s The Lindy – The Large Single from his autumn 2012 collection. This will be the first MO Bar afternoon tea solely created based on the shape, colour, print and texture of an iconic handbag.
Sidney Schutte, Executive Sous Chef at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, said, “When creating the tea set, we were inspired by the feminine bow and the punk mini stud infused with 80s style as well as the warm solid colour tone in this autumn’s collection. We instill these design elements through the use of refined details and contemporary colours in the delicious pastries and savouries, reinterpreting the sweet yet sophisticated style of the handbag.”
Available from September 1-30, 2012, MO Bar’s Marc Jacobs tea set will feature savoury bites such as Beetroot Horseradish Ravioli; Smoked Turkey Spinach Quiche; Ham Mousse Bun Bag; and Cucumber Cream Cheese Ribbon on Crispy Sour Dough Cracker. Sweet temptations include mini Marc Jacobs Mocktail; Pistachio Biscuit layered with Strawberry Mousse; Grand Cru Manjari Mousse with Chocolate Marzipan; Cherry and Vanilla Panna Cotta, as well as MO Bar’s signature light-as-a-feather Ginger and Raisin Scones.
The delightful afternoon tea is priced at HKD200 from Mondays to Saturdays, including the three-tier tea set, a delectable cake buffet and a choice of Jing tea or coffee; and HKD240 on Sundays, topped with a Sunday dessert buffet. All guests will receive a special gift set from Marc Jacobs with the tea set (while stocks last).
