The Michelin Guide has announced that it will be adding Québec to its list, much to the delight of both travelers and food aficionados. The province will join Toronto and Vancouver as the third Canadian destination in the guide’s prestigious lineup. Michelin launched its first North American Guide in New York in 2005, followed by additions in Chicago (2011), Washington, D.C. (2017), and California.
The first Michelin Guide Québec selection will be unveiled in 2025, spotlighting culinary gems across the province. The Guide’s anonymous inspectors are already on the hunt, dining incognito to ensure they experience the same service as any other customer. The guide’s iconic stars, one, two, or three, will spotlight extraordinary cuisine, while its Bib Gourmand and Green Star awards will recognize great value and sustainable practices respectively.
Famed for its rich cultural heritage, Québec is also a culinary haven with a diverse and dynamic food scene. From Montreal’s bustling streets to Quebec City’s historic charm, the province offers a rich tapestry of flavors that highlight its French roots and multicultural influences. Québec’s commitment to local and sustainable practices is evident in its thriving farm-to-table movement, showcasing the province’s exceptional produce and seafood.
“Québec is a rich multicultural mosaic, which gives Québec’s cuisine an invaluable uniqueness. It is with immense pride that all of our partners welcome the arrival of the Michelin Guide across the Province of Québec, which will further showcase our local artisans on the international stage,” Geneviève Cantin, CEO of the Alliance said.
Many believe Québec’s culinary scene has long deserved such recognition. The province is home to celebrated chefs and emerging talent blending traditional techniques with innovative flair.
“We are excited to plant our flag in Québec as the newest destination for the Michelin Guide in Canada. Québec’s culinary scene shines a light on the rich heritage and traditions of the province attracting travelers on the lookout for remarkable and tasty experiences. I look forward to revealing what my famously anonymous Inspectors discover for the inaugural selection,” Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides said.
