The Spa at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles – Hideaway of Beauty

Looking to pamper absolutely pamper yourself and feast your eyes? Four Seasons Resort Seychelles should be next in your self-indulgence list

Shut your eyes. Open them. Shut them and open them yet again to ascertain that you are not dreaming. Blink your eyes against the rhythm of flawlessly pristine waters in every shade of blue that you could possibly imagine, while they stare innocently back at you. No, I am not talking about a scenic painting.

Whoever said staying healthy and feeling peaceful was of utmost importance was right. And since people are increasingly paying heed to wholesome wellness, it wouldn’t hurt to glam it up with some style and, of course, some luxury! Blissful seclusion could not have been better defined anywhere else unless you are amongst serene clouds. But coming close behind, high above the beach, brushed by gentle breezes at the summit of the hills, the Spa at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles promises an experience that you will forever cherish. If a breathtaking view of Petite Anse, a blissful hour of treatment and sheer peace and tranquility is what you seek, then getting onto a plane and heading for Seychelles is a must for you. Experience pampering inspired by ancient Indian and Asian traditions, with all natural products, while your eyes soak in live inspiration to every artist.

They have a variety of treatments to suit every body and skin type, and preference. Speak to the receptionist if confused or simply take your pick! Their deeply soothing rituals combine a variety of spa treatments, such as massages, scrubs and wraps, to create a multi-dimensional experience. If spas make you uncomfortable and peace does not appeal to you, I would still recommend a visit to the resort just to soak in its majestic aura, which will surely convert you into a scenic lover!

In the midst of nothingness
All villas at the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles (be it the Garden view, Ocean view or Hilltop view villa) have privacy and are situated strategically so that you have the perfect view of nature’s beauty. Sigh…

When you are done lounging in your private plunge pool, or getting cosy in your striking four poster bed, pick up the phone and call the spa to book your treatment at least a day prior to avoid any disappointment. The call is followed by a written confirmation in your room which is a normal procedure for them. Half an hour before your treatment, be sure to call for a buggy to ride you up all the way towards the highest peak of the resort, where the spa is situated. I would recommend going 15 minutes earlier so that you can absorb the scenic beauty of the place at your leisure.

The spa receptionist will usher you inside and will guide into a beautiful seating area which has a breathtaking view. If you are observant enough, you will notice that each member of the spa team is wearing a light blue colour shirt which, according to me, matched the waters perfectly and had a very soothing and peaceful effect. Don’t be intimated by the size of the spa, but simply concentrate on the fact that the entire spa stares down at beautiful waters and lush greenery! Take a few moments to fill out the personal details form and wait till your therapist guides you to your private therapy room. Calling it a ‘room’, however, would be putting it mildly, because it has two beds that face the ocean, a full sofa set, a shower, a washroom, a tub and a fully equipped wardrobe. Luxury with a capital L, according to me.

Take your pick
It was a tough fight while choosing the spa treatment because each one of them looked as unique and effective as the other one. The first treatment I opted for was the Vanilla and Orange Blossom Body polish, a body scrub, which is formulated with natural ingredients to rejuvenate the body and enhance the skin. Take a seat as the therapist gives you a quick brief as to what to expect during the one-hour treatment. I was impressed to note that every therapist is professionally trained to drape the sheets in a unique way so as to make guests feel comfortable and ensure their privacy. Relax and let your senses take over as your therapist massages the scrub onto your body with each movement being more perfect and masterful. The scrub, courtesy its fragrant core elements, emitted quite a delicious smell. I learned that the orange, due to its anti-oxidant properties, helps protect the skin while the vanilla is said to help reduce stress and relax the mind. A steaming hot shower awaits you at the end of the scrub. Don’t use any soap, while gently washing the scrub off your body, to let your skin revel in the feeling of the scrub. As a perfect ending to the already perfect treatment, the therapist strategically massages a conditioning moisturizer all over your body.

If you are the kind who cannot doze off during the treatment, stare down at a beautiful frangipani flower (their local flower), which has somewhat of a soothing effect on the mind. Otherwise, turn your bed around, stare into deep valleys and watch the waters meet the white sandy shores, striking a picturesque moment. The room has a very homely feel with positivity, peace and serenity radiating from every corner. Feel free to draw the curtains if the glare of the mighty sun gets into your eyes, but it would be a shame to miss the beauty that lies on the other side of the windows.

I coupled this treatment with a quintessential back, neck and shoulder aromatic oil massage, which is off the menu, but they politely catered to my request. It lasts 30 minutes, but feels like less than five, because it is so soporific! The names of the aromatherapy oils usually used ranged from Sunrise to Sunset amongst others and were placed in beautiful glass bottles which you could sample on your palm before deciding on the winner! I used the Sunset oil, which contains cinnamon, lavender and nutmeg, and which proved to be a success!

If you are on your honeymoon, which for a place like this is the ideal occasion, I would strongly recommend the ‘Blissful Connection’ ritual with your partner, which focuses on the sacral, heart and crown chakras and involves using a combination of jasmine, rose and orange essential oils. If a simple body massage is what you crave, then opt for the Hilltop Fusion massage which could either be for 60 or 90 minutes. This signature massage draws on influence from around the world and eases muscular tension, thus providing a deep sense of well-being.

The Spa also uses and retails Ila, Sodashi and Yi King products. Yi King is a Seychelles-based brand, which focuses on healing based on the month you were born, giving an absolutely unique form of wellness to the guest.

Whatever your interests and expectations from a sprawling holiday destination, the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles has something to please you!
