Tod’s to spend 25 million Euros on restoration of Colosseum

January 21, 2011: Diego Della Valle, President of Tod’s Group, and Italy’s Ministry of Culture confirmed that Tod’s Group will finance the complete restoration of Rome’s historic Colosseum with a monetary commitment of 25 million Euros.

An agreement between Rome’s Delegated Commissioner and Supervisor and Della Valle was signed in Rome’s City Hall, confirming that the Tod’s Group is committed to sponsoring the entire costs of the project.

The project outlines eight different work phases dedicated to the clean up and restoration of the world-famous Colosseum.

Della Valle said, “We believe that because the Tod’s Group is a strong global representative of ‘Made in Italy’, it is both an honour and our duty to contribute to the support of our country’s image and credibility, as well as its cultural heritage.”

The Tod’s Group’s proposal was selected as the preferred option by the Italian Ministry of Culture, which last August sent out a public works bid inviting private sector sponsors to help restore the ancient Roman arena.
