December 11, 2014: The first ever Victoria’s Secret show in London, in collaboration with Swarovski, was a spectacular success according to the brands.
In 2014, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’s overall theme, and that of the lavish after-party, was inspired by the Black & White Ball, a masquerade ball hosted by Truman Capote in 1966. Swarovski added glittering glamour to the collection, and complemented the runway looks with ornate jewelry pieces on loan from its archive. Of particular note, the Fairy Tale section of the show was a dazzling celebration of Victoria’s Secret’s heritage which showcased the breathtaking Angel Wings, a custom look created exclusively for Swarovski. Embellished with more crystals (at over 150,000) than any other outfit in the show’s history, the Fairy Tale outfit was designed by Serkan Cura.
With the most crystals featured in the show to date, Swarovski also added dazzling shine to show themes such as: Gilded Angel, an opulent look featuring exquisite embroidery, beading and crystals; Dream Girl, a sparkling Fifties pin-up and high-end boudoir look; Spicy Adventure, which introduced colorful ethnic and gypsy-inspired outfits; and Urban Pink—think Rihanna meets Cara Delevigne—which made an edgy statement before the glamorous grand finale, the black and white Angel Ball.
