Lodha Group has given a new definition to living high and mighty with its project World One
Live near the sky with the world at your feet. Literally and figuratively. Lodha Group has done all that it can to elevate you and your status up and above. After all, living in World One is no small feat, considering that the residences start from INR 7.50 crores and upwards.
And pray, is it worth it? You may ask. So here is a little gist of what this massive project worth INR 2,000 crore is going to hold.
Developed by Lodha Developers, World One is set to be the tallest residential tower in the world. Located on a large 17 acre site in Upper Worli, Mumbai, this masterpiece will be over 450 meters with over 117 storeys when ready. It will quite comfortably dwarf Q1 in Gold coast, which is currently the world’s tallest residential tower at 323 meters. Setting a global standard, World One will be concurrently premiered across the globe in New York, Tokyo and Mumbai. The final height and number of floors, however, shall be finalized closer to the completion of the tower.
One of the landmark features that this iconic tower will be sporting is an observatory called ‘1000’. Aptly located at 1000 feet above the city, this open-to-air observatory allows residents to enjoy fabulous views of the city and the Arabian Sea. It is estimated that a person can see as far as 60 kms from the building at this height!
Environment concerns
Lodha Group is doing its bit to marry technology and green practices in this project. World One shall be rated as GOLD LEED Certified building by the Green Building Council. One of the only 100+ storey buildings in the world to have this coveted certification, it indicates a high level of environmental care in its construction and operations. The key environmental sustainability features include 100 per cent water recycling and rain water harvesting which reduces water consumption by up to 50 per cent; use of VRV air conditioning and solar energy for common area lighting and water heating, thereby reducing electricity consumption by up to 40 per cent; and waste segregation and recycling.
Interior talks
The shiny silver exterior is just the beginning. The open, calming, simple, yet luxurious interiors are going to fill you with awe. World One will include about 300 exclusive homes, including three and four bedroom World Residences, lavish World Villas with their own private pools, and a limited number of uber-luxurious duplex World Mansions. Due to the unique curved form of the building, the residents can enjoy a spectacular 360° view of the entire city, including the Bandra Worli Sealink, the Race Course and the Arabian Sea.
Be prepared to be pampered by luxury living with World One having the best of bath and kitchen fittings. While the kitchens are furnished by Bulthaup, bath fittings are done by Antonio Lupi, Dornbracht, Gessi, and Villeroy & Boch.
Going beyond
One of the main temptations of this project, which goes beyond the usual looks and facilities in a home, is the world-renowned Six Senses Spa. Six Senses has some of the best resorts and spas in Asia, but this brand had skipped India till now. And World One has managed to rope in this exclusive brand for its customers! Another feather in their multi-hued cap is Quintessentially. This group has various offices around the world and provides concierge services to HNIs, including many famous personalities. Quintessentially is going to provide concierge services for the residents of World One as well.
The World One site will also have over five acres of landscaped areas for the residents, including a special 80,000 sq. ft. Sports Club at a height of 175 feet above ground.
Standing tall
Don’t think that this thin structure that you see in the images will ever wobble and topple down. Construction is carried out by world’s top civil engineering firms including Samsung Constructions (constructors of Burj Khalifa in Dubai), L&T and Grocon (Australia’s leading high-rise construction company).
You are also considerably safe from earthquakes. World One has been designed to manage the effect of wind and seismic movements. High-strength concrete makes up the tower’s super-structure. Special measures have been taken to ensure fire safety, including fully automated fire detection and sprinkling systems, dedicated pressurized fire staircases and high-speed fire lifts.
Lodha Developers has also partnered with some of the world’s foremost names to bring World One to life. Credited for the Grand Louvre Expansion and Modernization (Paris), the Bank of China Tower (Hong Kong), and the John Hancock Tower (Boston), Pei Cobb Freed & Partners assures that the iconic skyline presence is equally balanced with a concern for the quality of public space they engender as well as a deep commitment to the craft of building. Responsible for landmark global projects such as the 492 meter Shanghai World Financial Center in China, Leslie E. Robertson Associates is a consulting engineering firm providing structural engineering design services for architects, developers, contractors and owners.
The construction is scheduled to be completed by 2014. The sales, however, have already begun!
