Zenith gives a sneak preview of watch for Jean-Louis Etienne

October 22, 2010 – Jean-Louis Etienne, the first man to fly solo over the North Pole in a balloon, presented a sneak preview of the Zenith El Primero Jean-Louis Etienne, the watch dedicated to his Arctic expedition.

The movement of this limited edition watch is the same as the Zenith El Primero Striking 10th. It is the only series-produced mechanical caliber that measures and displays up to 1/10th of a second. The movement equipping the Zenith El Primero Jean-Louis Etienne version was created in collaboration with Etienne and underwent the most demanding reliability test: crossing the Arctic Ocean.

There are only 500 pieces of this limited edition timepiece. The watch is dominated by two colours: ruthenium and black. The first symbolizes what the Inuit call white nights, a certain period of the year when the sun never sets. The other shade, deep black, incarnates the polar night, when the sun never appears in the sky.

Price: Rs. 5,10,000

Available at: Helvetica, Spencer Plaza, Chennai; Johnson Watch Co. stores in Connaught Place and South Extension; and Times of Lord, Kemps Corner, Mumbai
