June 15, 2018: Luxury fashion brand Bottega Veneta released that the creative director of the Italian House since 2001, Tomas Maier, will no longer be working with them. François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Kering, said that Mr Maier’s high-creative demands set the tone for the expertise of the House’s artisans to be magnificently showcased. He is also extremely grateful for the amount of success that Mr Maier helped the brand achieve in the past 17 years.
Taking Mr Maier’s place would be Daniel Lee, starting July 1, 2018. Mr Lee, 32, was most recently Director of Ready-to-Wear Design at Céline. The British national is a graduate of the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He has also worked previously at Maison Margiela, Balenciaga and Donna Karan.
On the appointment, Mr Pinault said, "I am very pleased to welcome Daniel Lee to Kering as Creative Director of Bottega Veneta. The singularity of his vision inspired by a very personal creative approach convinced me that he was best able to open a new chapter in the history of the House. His work is characterized by great rigor, a mastery of studio expertise, a true passion for materials and an energy that I cannot wait to see take shape at Bottega Veneta."
