India Couture Week goes digital for the first time

With the changing definition of events, the Fashion Design Council of India is presenting the first ever digital edition of the India Couture Week

September 3, 2020: For the first time ever, India Couture Week (ICW) will be entering the digital realm this year. The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) presents a new era for showcasing Indian couture at the ICW, from September 18 to 23.

Keeping up with digitization in the wake of the pandemic, FDCI has advanced towards a robust digital transformation. ICW will offer designers an opportunity to reach out to a more savvy audience by showcasing their collections in innovative ways.

The six day long event will feature top couturiers like Amit Aggarwal, Anju Modi, Dolly J, Falguni Shane Peacock, Gaurav Gupta, JJ Valaya, Kunal Rawal, Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, Reynu, Taandon, Shantanu & Nikhil and Suneet Varma. Exhibiting their stellar collections through videos, films and supporting content, the live digital event will follow the format of physical fashion shows and have a preset schedule. The content will be live streamed across FDCI digital platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the FDCI official website.

Digital India Couture Week 2020

The official hashtag for the event is #DecodingCouture, and the event is graphically themed around “waves”, considering ‘digital’ is creating ripples in the fashion industry around the world.

FDCI Chairman Sunil Sethi commented, “FDCI has been a frontrunner in establishing a fresh template, in tandem with the changing times. Couture has all the elements of fantasy, and as screens take over our lives, we hope to recreate the magic of this genre, with pure creativity.”
