May 6, 2011: Siam, the first show from The Home of the Traveler (THT) – part of Valaya Home Label, came alive with an exhibit of 51 collectibles at the specially created gallery in Okhla Phase III, over a cocktail evening.
A part of the House of Valaya’s 20 year celebrations next year, Indian designer JJ Valaya introduced a concept close to his heart. An avid traveller, Mr Valaya is greatly inspired by culture, art and architecture of different nations. Thus, The Home of The Traveler was born!
Mr Valaya travels deep into the inner recesses of the past of these countries to acquire eclectic remnants of history, made by artisans whose talent had been passed down from generations. The artifacts are representative of ancient dynasties resplendent in history, with each one speaking the distinct language of the civilization it once belonged to.
An exquisite collection of individual items, most of these bear history and are culturally steeped, and thus cannot be mass produced or branded. So while you have the time, do make sure to pick your piece and adorn your home with a ‘JJ Valaya’.
Sarting with Siam, the first show, a stunning collection of artifacts was displayed – sourced by Mr Valaya himself – from various countries. The exhibition, which is on till May 14, witnessed a great turn out on the opening night.
