Costing a cool $160 per lipstick, La Beaute offers rich and luscious shades.

After announcing the launch of their first ever beauty line in March 2025, Louis Vuitton has now filled the blanks by sharing more information on the products. Rooted in its long-standing values of travel, creativity, and innovation, La Beauté presents beauty as lifestyle, expression, and artistry.

Led by Dame Pat McGrath, DBE, as Creative Director, Cosmetics, the brand has a digital pre-launch on August 25. Ms. McGrath said, “Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity and innovation. The beauty universe is about so much more than just products, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”

The debut collection introduces lipsticks, balms, and eyeshadows. Lipstick leads the way with 55 shades—27 creamy and 28 matte finishes, an intentional nod to the number 55 represented by Louis Vuitton’s initials in Roman numerals. Each shade has been developed to work across skin tones and occasions.

Three shades stand as signatures of the launch: 896 Monogram Rouge, blending Louis Vuitton’s brown Monogram canvas with a classic red; 203 Rose Odyssée, an earthy orange-pink inspired by a Sienna rose; and 854 Rouge Louis, a bold scarlet. The lipsticks are made with upcycled waxes from rose, jasmine, and mimosa flowers, combined with shea butter and hyaluronic acid for comfort. Each comes in refillable packaging and carries a bespoke scent by Louis Vuitton’s master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, with notes of mimosa, jasmine, and rose.

“Creating fragrance for a lipstick is a completely different challenge than for skin. The scent sits much closer to the wearer’s nose, so it must be delicate yet expressive, something that seduces first the wearer herself before anyone else. Unlike traditional perfumes built on alcohol, this base had to work in wax and oil. Technically, it’s far more complex. But with natural ingredients of the highest quality, we created a scent that lingers softly and elevates the entire ritual. It took us four years to get right and is something I’m very proud of,” Mr. Belletrud said.

The LV Baume collection offers ten shades enriched with shea butter and hyaluronic acid. Notable shades include 051 Monogram Touch, a sheer take on Monogram Rouge; 030 Tender Bliss, a luminous pink pearl; and 020 Rose Essentiel, a delicate rosy tone. The balms are lightly scented with mint and raspberry.

The LV Ombres eyeshadow palettes highlight Ms. McGrath’s strength in building expressive color stories. There are eight palettes, each with four shades, three wearable tones and one standout option, in finishes ranging from matte to glitter. Key editions include 896 Monogram Rouge, with red, brown, and caramel shades; 150 Beige Momento, a palette inspired by Louis Vuitton’s VVN leather; and 250 Nude Mirage, with soft, rosy neutrals. All palettes are infused with camellia oil for a smooth application.

Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic designed the packaging for La Beaute, bringing his architectural clarity to beauty. The bespoke monogram lipstick bullet has the name of the colour shade engraved on the refill. There’s a very convenient window at the top of the casing to view the shade. An innovative floral motif lock system only allows lipsticks and eyeshadows from La Beauté Louis Vuitton to be housed in their heirloom cases. “Wherever possible, we designed the products to be refillable rather than disposable. We chose materials like aluminum and brass, minimizing plastic and enhancing durability…These are pieces meant to live with you, to be kept, treasured, and used again and again,” Mr. Grcic said.

Accessories also feature in the line, including leather lipstick pouches and compact wallets designed for blotting papers. Lipsticks and balms are priced at US $160 each, with refills available at $69. Eyeshadow palettes are priced at US $250 with refills at $92.
