With temperatures at an all time high still, MAC’s Summer 2013 collection is aptly titled. The ‘Temperature Rising’ Collection seems sultry and sexy and oh-so-very apt for Indian skin tones in shades of brown and copper. Part of a limited edition (should make it to their permanent line), I had the opportunity to use the Copper Strip eye pencil and all I can say is that it’s a winner.
Having used a lot of copper eye pencils and shadows simply because it’s a ‘safe’ alternative with almost anything, this one is a welcome product because of its smooth and non-crumbly texture that works perfectly well with just a sweep of black or brown gel eye liner along the lids, and of course, mascara!
A warm, coppery bronze with a soft, frosted finish, the product had a good colour payoff and perfectly complements all eye colours! I’d suggest carrying this along in your bag as It can be worn as an eyeshadow, an eyeshadow base, a liner and in the inner waterline too (if you do not wear lenses). There is no fallout, fuss or muss with these Powerchrome pencils. Keep in mind that they dry up almost as soon as you apply it, so I won’t recommend any blending or shading, unless you want to just highlight towards the end of the eyes with some smoky black or darker brown. What I love about the pencil is that the glitter makes it feminine and yet so classy.
This product lasted me the entire day (about eight hours) until I saw some signs of slight fading. The pencils come in three other shades: Rich Glance (frosty white gold), Life’s Luxury (deep chocolate brown) and Polished Jet (shimmery charcoal grey). The disadvantage to this product is that you need to sharpen it instead of just a simple twist up which saves time and product!
