The spa reception greets you soothingly when you step inside from a crowded shopping street. The open reception, bamboo sticks against the wall (which I later found to be a continued décor element throughout the spa) and muted colours instantly transport you to calm zone after that frenzied shopping trip. I just wish there was some calm music playing. It would have made the ambience even better.
Going up at the spa, the décor continues with the simple and elegant theme. The absence of soothing music is still there though. The spa includes one hair salon, five single treatment rooms each equipped with steam/shower, one double treatment room with steam/shower and a relaxation area. The rooms are well designed. The pebble-carpeted floor and bamboos standing against the wall give a very ‘Thai’ feel.
The spa menu includes Thai and Ayurveda treatments. My therapist was really good at straightening the knots. She gave an authentic Balinese massage with medium pressure. Her strokes and handwork with lavender oil instantly relaxed me and almost put me to sleep. The massage was a combination of dry and wet. I was in an absolute tranquil state-of-mind after the massage, which was a bad thing, since I had to get back to work!
Their other massage options include Thai Ritual, Classic Swedish Ritual, Mystic Back Massage, Mystic Head and Shoulder Massage and Reflexology. Try Shirodhara, Abhyanga or Pizhichil from the Ayurveda menu. Cleanse your skin and open the pores with Sea Salt Scrub or Udwarthana. They have bridal and groom packages – a must-try for those who are going to get married this year. They also have full-blown salon services like threading, waxing, manicure and pedicure. Packages and services can be customized as per your demand.
While the core services of a spa, the spa therapies and therapists at Mystic Spa were wonderful, I wish the ambience was a little bit better. It would have been a flawless experience then. But nevertheless, Mystic Spa & Salon is the best treat you can give yourself after an exciting shopping trip.
