Although men have become bolder in the past few years, there are some traditions which will remain evergreen. And that’s what the Spring Summer 2016 collections pointed at. We analyse the trends for Spring Summer 2016 menswear, and put together a little guide on the directions of designers.
Single colour says it all
The designers have declared. Mono coloured clothing is not just for kids – men can embrace it too. Who better to tell you that than Alexander Wang (might I just add that he is the maestro of mono colored clothing)? This season is all about dressing up in a single colour and enjoying the warmth of summer. Designers Craig Green and Alexandere Plokhov seem to agree as well.
Long and stylish
Looks like this trend is here to stay. Long tops for men seem to be the next big thing and Versace proves that. It’s not just a part of men’s casualwear. Pair with a nice pair of trousers and a jacket/blazer for a formal night out! The elongated tops of Casely-Hayford collection is distinguished, with layering playing a major role. And Ann Demeulemeester’s elongated shirts coupled with jackets win a nod of approval for this season.
Easy going
Sandals are the perfect footwear for summer and everyone seems to agree. Valentino, Hermes and Michael Bastian show that sandals can be a man’s best friend this summer. It is perfectly legit to wear your best pair of sandals not just with denims, but also with semi formal attires.
We mean business
Man purses are the highlight of this season. Gone are the days of backpacks and boys have grown into men. Michael Bastian and Versace bags are beautifully crafted in leather and detailed with masculine buckles. Even Louis Vuitton displayed bags that defined casual sophistication.
