May 1, 2024: Once again, Sotheby’s Paris presents the captivating narrative of a passionate collector’s life work. Spanish socialite Dona Yolanda Eleta de Fierro’s precious items housed in her opulent Madrid residence and her stunning jewelry collection are up for auction.
This extraordinary compilation will be dispersed through two distinct sales, Part I, scheduled for a live auction on May 21, 2024, and Part II, an online sale spanning from May 7 to May 22, 2024.
D. Yolanda’s personal collection, amassed within the residence she and her husband built in 1965, boasts exquisite pieces acquired during their extensive travels.
She closely worked with her friend and Panamanian architect Guillermo de Roux to design the house. From Chinese porcelain and exquisite French clocks to lacquered chinoiserie cabinets and English giltwood mirrors, the collection is an eclectic showcase of rare wonders, some never before seen.
The highlights includes treasures like the Regency Silver Service by esteemed British silversmith Paul Storr, alongside jewels from renowned houses such as Harry Winston, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., and David Webb.
Nestled in the heart of Madrid at Calle Serrano 128, Ms. Yolanda’s neo-classical marvel not only served as her residence but also as the prestigious setting for Spain’s most extravagant social gatherings.
Born in Panama and a Stanford University alumna, D. Yolanda began her collection in 1945, amassing a diverse array of pieces showcasing diamonds, and emeralds, and reflecting her Panamanian and Costa Rican heritage.
Her marriage to Ignacio Fierro, a scion of a Spanish banking dynasty, precipitated the construction of their lavish Madrid villa, where she meticulously curated a breathtaking ensemble of art and furnishings, a testament to her discerning taste and vast network of connections.
This captivating auction offers a glimpse into the extraordinary life and legacy of one of Spain’s most illustrious collectors.
