Indian Accent Mumbai rings in 2 years with a tasting menu that rewrites seasonality

The new tasting menu highlights monsoon and autumn flavours while introducing inventive vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and specialty options.

Since opening its doors at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) two years ago, Indian Accent Mumbai has promised the city a version of modern Indian dining that is both inventive and grounded. Since then, the restaurant has become a fixture in the city’s culinary map, a place where tradition is reinterpreted with playfulness, and familiar flavours are given unexpected turns.

To mark its second anniversary, Indian Accent Mumbai is presenting a new seasonal Tasting Menu, designed as an ode to the Indian monsoon, the transition into autumn, and the festive mood of the months ahead.

The restaurant’s striking Art Deco interiors at NMACC provide the backdrop for a menu that speaks of evolution while holding onto familiar comforts. Executive Chef Rijul Gulati said, “To celebrate our 2nd Anniversary in Mumbai we have curated a tasting menu that is completely reimagined; some dishes evolve to reflect the produce of the moment, while a few favourites remain — grounding the experience in comfort and familiarity. Our menus are always rooted in the seasons, they celebrate the lush vibrancy of the monsoon and the familiar comfort of early autumn, it’s about letting the ingredients speak — but in a way that’s surprising, playful, and true to what Indian Accent stands.”

This sense of growth extends beyond the dining table. Last year, Indian Accent Mumbai joined Indian Accent New Delhi in partnering with Salaam Baalak Trust to provide four meals to a girl child for every table that dines. Together, the two restaurants have served over 2,00,000 meals so far, and the commitment is set to expand, with the vision of involving all Indian Accent restaurants in the years to come.

The new tasting journey begins, as always, with the iconic Blue Cheese Naan, a small but bold amuse that signals what follows. Dishes then layer together in a rhythm of textures and flavours: Multani Moth Kachori with chilli onion, Papdi Chaat with crackling spinach, Tandoori Pulled Pork with bacon bhujiya and cherry chaat, Crab Varuval with black truffle, and Dry-Aged Duck with golden corn kadhi and silken khandvi. There is Braised Lamb Shank paired with tangy gourd and green almond korma, while the cult favourite Dilli Shawarma makes its return, available with chicken rara or masala paneer.

For vegetarians, the season is expressed through dishes like Sweet-Sour Kashiphal with aam ki launji, Chilli Cheese Vada with red amaranth keema and brun pao, and Smoked Dhingri with kalari cheese and black truffle. These plates lean into comfort and nostalgia, while offering a playful take on festive dining.

Dessert brings back childhood memories in forms that feel both whimsical and rich. Anar & Churan Kulfi Sorbet offers tang and freshness, Motichoor Soft Serve with bitter almond reworks a classic mithai, and the Amritsari Black Plum with saffron mascarpone, caramelised milk halwa, and crispy seviyan transforms meethi seviyan into a layered and seasonal highlight.

The 2nd Anniversary Tasting Menu is now available, priced at INR 4900++ (vegetarian) and INR 5500++ (non-vegetarian) per person, without alcohol. Responding to changing dining habits, the restaurant also offers a ‘Light Tasting’ format, a smaller-portion, calorie-conscious version of the menu that retains the flavour journey. Vegan, gluten-free, and Jain menus are also part of the offering.

Alongside the anniversary menus, the à la carte selection remains strong with Indian Accent favourites such as meetha aachar pork ribs with green apple, ghee roast soya boti with roomali roti pancake, and daulat ki chaat with rose petal chikki and roast almond. Newer additions exclusive to Mumbai include gunpowder prawns with red rice and smoked chilli-raw mango curry and burrata chaat with lotus root papdi and mustard tomato jam.

Two years in, Indian Accent Mumbai has managed to hold its place as a restaurant that offers more than just inventive plates, it has built continuity through seasonal menus, consistency through favourites, and responsibility through its community initiatives. This anniversary menu is another step in shaping its role as a restaurant that celebrates both flavour and purpose, while still surprising its diners.
