Once global powerhouses in sport and style decide to join forces, expectations are naturally high. Nike and Skims have unveiled NikeSkims, a women’s sportswear collection that aims to combine performance-driven innovation with inclusive design.

The collaboration, first announced in February, introduces seven categories and 58 styles. Described as a “system of dress,” the collection has been built to offer more than 10,000 outfit combinations, reflecting the way women move between training, competition, and everyday life.

The range includes essentials like sports bras and leggings alongside seasonal layers and accessories. Designed to transition seamlessly from workouts to casual wear, the pieces rely on sculpting fabrics, muted color palettes, and layering options intended to adapt to different body types and lifestyles.

Kim Kardashian, co-founder and chief creative officer of Skims, framed the collaboration as a push to challenge long-standing gaps in the activewear market. “We’re combining high-performance innovation with sexy, style-forward design for all women who demand both,” she said. “No more compromises.”

For Nike, the partnership fits into its broader strategy of expanding innovation in women’s products. Amy Montagne, president of Nike, called the collection a breakthrough. “NikeSkims is a bold evolution in how women experience sport and style. Together with Skims, we’re delivering an experience that no other brand can offer,” she said.

Each of the seven collections is built on fabric technologies developed jointly by the two companies. Matte, Shine, and Airy are considered core lines and will be updated each season. Matte merges Nike’s Dri-Fit technology with Skims’ mid-level compression, offering 21 styles across sports bras, shorts, capris, and leggings, including a legging designed with a built-in “Pilates foot.”

Shine, made for high-impact movement, brings 11 lightweight and quick-dry styles, from sports bras to T-shirts and leggings. Airy focuses on breathable basics for layering, including oversized tops, tanks, jackets, and sweatpants with snap closures, all tailored for low-intensity activity.

The seasonal collections expand the vision further. Vintage Seamless introduces eight moisture-wicking knit pieces with ribbed details and a retro feel, while Weightless Layers delivers five semi-sheer designs trimmed with reflective detailing. Matte Tricot draws from track-inspired silhouettes with a matte finish, and Shiny Nylon makes its mark with an oversized pant.

NikeSkims’ debut film, Bodies at Work, and campaign photography together feature more than 50 athletes from across the Nike portfolio, including Jordan Chiles, Romane Dicko, Beatriz Hatz, Chloe Kim, Nelly Korda, Sha’Carri Richardson, Madisen Skinner and Serena Williams, as well as Ms. Kardashian.

“I’m an athlete, but I love fashion too. It’s important for me to express myself, and I love how wearing NikeSKIMS allows me to do that,” says Ms. Chiles, an Olympic and world-champion gymnast. Ms. Williams, winner of 23 Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals, echoes similar feedback: “It feels like butter on your skin…I feel unstoppable when I’m training in it.”

For Skims, which launched in 2019 and is now valued at over $4 billion, the collaboration marks another expansion into activewear. The brand has already grown from intimates into swimwear, menswear, and ready-to-wear, and plans to operate 22 retail stores by the end of the year.

NikeSkims brings both companies into fresh territory, but the ambition is clear: to reshape what women expect from sportswear. It is not simply about new styles but about delivering function and flexibility at scale. With the combination of Nike’s technical expertise and Skims’ approach to body-inclusive design, the partnership signals how women’s activewear is evolving to meet the realities of modern life.
