Auction house Sotheby’s is teaming up with Geneva’s heist-out, a watch magazine, for an extraordinary auction experience titled “Rough Diamonds”. Like rough diamonds yet to be discovered, this avant-garde event will present rare, bejeweled, and uniquely designed timepieces.
Scheduled to take place underground – literally – at the charming La Corne à Vin wine cellar in Geneva on April 11, the auction includes a collection of 24 lots, each possessing a distinctive charm and history.
With estimates ranging from CHF 2,000 to CHF 100,000, these timepieces are a journey through time, encapsulating the spirit of technical innovation, exceptional design, rare materials, historical significance, notable ownership, exquisite craftsmanship, and rarity.
Among the standout pieces is the Audemars Piguet Cobra ‘Khanjar,’ with its white gold bracelet and day-date functionality, which echoes the spirit of the mid-80s (CHF 50,000 – CHF 100,000). Vacheron Constantin’s Aton is a yellow gold and diamond-set bracelet watch (CHF 10,000 – CHF 20,000).
Another Audemars Piguet, a car-shaped white gold, diamond, and emerald-set wristwatch (CHF 40,000 – CHF 80,000) will certainly pop. Patek Philippe makes an appearance with a unique set featuring a bracelet watch, a ring, and a necklace (CHF 30,000 – CHF 50,000).
Before the captivating auction evening, enthusiasts and collectors can revel in the Public Exhibition in Geneva from April 8 to April 10, 2024. The live auction sale, scheduled for 6:00 pm Geneva time, will unfold underground and be accessible online at Sothebys.com/roughdiamonds.
