AstaGuru’s ‘Opulent Heritage’ auction will present impeccably preserved global artistry

Three precious porcelain and crystal eggs by Theo Fabergé will also go under the hammer.

Yet again, Astaguru presents an awe-inspiring collection that blends global artistry with the heritage of craftsmanship through its upcoming ‘Opulent Heritage’ auction. The auction will feature over 200 lots, offering a diverse selection of exquisite designs and culturally significant pieces from Asia, Europe, and Persia.

Eye catching treasures from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as fine furniture, elegant ceramics, ornate silverware, intricate carpets, charming figurines, vintage clocks, and dazzling crystal chandeliers, represent the fine tastes of the Victorian era. Set for August 23-24, 2024, this event will showcase a meticulously curated collection of artifacts and antiques that highlight the exceptional skill and attention to detail of past eras.

Estimated to fetch between INR 1,08,00,000 and 1,26,00,000, the Khorassan Wool Carpet is a delicate rug crafted in the traditional style of northeastern Iran’s Khorassan province and boasts a dark sisal ground adorned with a captivating twilight blue floral medallion.

Another highlight is a brilliant Eight-Light Floor Chandelier by the renowned F & C Osler, with an estimate of INR 12,00,000 to 15,00,000. This 1890 masterpiece features original Osler shades, a minaret pinnacle, and nine crystal pendants, all suspended from a central column that rests on a base with five claw feet.

Then there are two exceptional Murano glass chandeliers from the famed Venetian island: the Fine Floral Design Murano Chandelier, circa 1900, showcasing six candle bulbs with arched arms and flower bud decorations (INR 4,00,000 to 5,00,000), and an exceptional 24-light Murano Chandelier, created in the 20th century with milk glass (INR 8,00,000 to 12,00,000).

Rounding out the collection is a Victorian Period English Hallmarked Five-Light Candelabrum by Edward & John Barnard, London. This ornate piece, valued between INR 23,00,000 and 25,00,000, is a testament to 19th and 20th-century European silver artistry, adorned with intricate carvings of flowers, volutes, and foliage.

Three exquisite porcelain and crystal eggs by Theo Fabergé are also included in the auction: the Imari Egg (Ed: 144/500) from 1992, the St. Vladimir Egg (Ed: 458/500) from 1987, and the Winter Egg (Ed: 570/750) from 1986, each estimated to fetch INR 2,00,000 to 3,00,000. They all open to reveal intricately crafted landmarks.

The furniture segment has a stunning centerpiece, an elegant Rosewood and Porcelain Vitrine, crafted circa 1880. This opulent vitrine, with an estimate of INR 25,00,000 to 30,00,000, features KPM panels, gilt/ormolu mounts, and intricately painted porcelain plaques. It stands majestically on four multipart porcelain toupie feet and is crowned with a floral crested top, embodying both Asian and European artistry in its design.

This exceptional collection celebrates global heritage through carefully preserved masterpieces.
