Aston Martin’s halo model, Vanquish, made a splash at Venice

Film icons like George Clooney, Daniel Craig and benedict Cumberbatch were in attendance.

The iconic Aston Martin has made its return. The original V12 model, which debuted in 2001, became a cinematic legend, notably driven by James Bond in Die Another Day and featured in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Italian Job. Now, it’s making a grand comeback with an equally stunning debut at Venice.

Limited to just 1,000 units annually, this powerhouse is driven by a newly developed 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, delivering an impressive 835PS and 1000Nm of torque. This exceptional blend of performance and efficiency is the result of meticulously refining each phase of the internal combustion process, ensuring that this remarkable V12 complies with the latest emissions regulations in global markets.

The Vanquish launch party in Venice drew a star-studded crowd, with the new V12 flagship sports car dazzling against the stunning backdrop of the Venetian Lagoon. The Aston Martin’s newest front-engine sports car signifies the completion of the brand’s next-generation portfolio. This unveiling follows the successful debut of the DB12 in May 2023 and the Vantage in February 2024.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, said, “The arrival of Vanquish is a seminal moment for Aston Martin, completing the newest and strongest portfolio in our segment and reinforcing our ultra-luxury positioning.”

Revealed by Aston Martin Formula One drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso just 24 hours after the Italian Grand Prix, the Vanquish strengthens the brand’s ambition to lead in high-performance automotive engineering. As the highest-performance sports car in Aston Martin’s core lineup, the Vanquish is the only model powered by a bespoke Aston Martin-developed 12-cylinder engine. Revived for the first time since 2018, this marks the third generation to carry the iconic Vanquish nameplate.

The evening featured a canal-side cocktail reception with Venetian Bellinis and film scores, followed by a three-course dinner by Michelin-starred Dolada. Hosted at the historic Arsenale di Venezia, the event saw numerous A-list attendees including Daniel Craig, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Douglas, Australian actor and filmmaker Joel Edgerton, American actresses Haley Bennett and Cailee Spaeny, and BAFTA award-winning director Joe Wright. Poppy Delevingne was also present.

Aston Martin also marks the 60th anniversary of its legendary connection with the James Bond films.
