“There’s something one should expect not only of a watch, but also of oneself: to never stand still,“ Walter Lange, great-grandson of A. Lange & Söhne founder, Ferdinand A. Lange, once said. And visiting the plush, newly minted experience center of Bangalore Watch Company on Lavelle Road, this quote feels serendipitous.

The homegrown Bengaluru-based brand, started in 2018 by husband-wife duo Nirupesh B. Joshi and Mercy Amalraj, has a clear premise to build watches of the highest quality and change the grammar of watch design typically associated with Indian watches.
With a vision to bring modern contemporary storytelling through high-quality watches and present it to a global audience, the Indian brand offers a limited collection of watches in four core themes. Mach 1 series (aviation), Apogee series (space), Cover Drive (cricket), and the most recent is their Peninsula line, which celebrates the outdoors.

And their brand-new watch, which LuxuryFacts got the first preview of, is Peninsula Carbon, an extension of the Peninsula Professional collection that made the GPHG longlist in 2025. “The dial uses a proprietary material called ReforgeCarbon, made by fusing recovered carbon into a forged carbon compression method to produce exquisite-looking dials,” explains Nirupesh Joshi, co-founder, Bangalore Watch Company.
This watch has many similarities with the Peninsula line. The case is pebble shaped, the shape of the print and indices, the circular markers, the tree at the 9 o’clock, the wave at the 3 o’clock are all the same. The watch is still watertight for 200 meters and is powered by a Swiss automatic movement for accuracy. “Now the change is in two places mainly, first is the story of the carbon is not about the outdoors, but more about our natural habitat which is the cities. And while the cities are the engine of growth, a symbol for our collective ambition, there is a large carbon consequence of our lifestyle,” says Joshi.

But make no mistake, this is not a watch that alleviates you of guilt. Rather, this is something you wear on your wrist and reminds you of that stark consequence of your lifestyle. “So we wanted to see if we could recover carbon from the atmosphere and make a dial, the watch face, from it. It was not easy, so we worked with a Bangalore-based company called Carbon Craft. It was almost a two-year R&D project for us, and then we figured out a way to do it. We took the process of creating carbon fiber, which is pressed in compression molding, and we get this powder mix. This recovered carbon mix was used to make carbon fiber, and we created a proprietary material called Reforge Carbon. This is our own technology; we worked with a Swiss partner to do it, and the black face is ReforgeCarbon,” Joshi explains colloquially.

As a brand that has been pushing the envelope on materials for quite a while now, the team came up with a concept for the AQI meter. While there is no minute track in the watch, Peninsula Carbon has replaced the traditional feature with a mock AQI meter. Represented through different colors, it starts with green, yellow, orange, going on to deep orange, red, and amber, as another cheeky reminder of the consequences of our lifestyle.
Limited to just 100 pieces, each Pensinsula Carbon is unique. “The combination of the reforged carbon material with the AQI metering as a symbol of that carbon is what makes this watch unique. Now the zigzag patterns you see on that dial are unique; no two dials will be the same because of the process of manufacturing the reforged carbon,” adds Joshi. The grey swipes on the dial – seeming like brush strokes – add distinct visual patterns on the dial that are impossible to be replicated.

With India seeing an increase in the pool of people interested in watches with a story as well as having the affinity for premium watches, Joshi admits this is a good time to be building timepieces. And this watch is a testament to that commitment—get yours before it’s gone.
The Peninsula Carbon watch is priced at USD 3,000 (INR 283,000) and can be ordered on the official brand website starting 26th May 2026.
