Fusion Collection opens Grand Royal Riverside Hue, its first property in Vietnam’s imperial city

It’s a 161-room riverside hotel on the UNESCO-recognized Huong River, with a wellness spa, two dining venues, and event facilities for 370 guests in central Vietnam.

Hue has held its ground through dynasties, colonial rule, and decades of modern tourism, and it remains one of the few cities in Southeast Asia where history is still the primary draw rather than the backdrop to something else. Fusion Hotel Group has made a pointed move into this city, which says as much about where luxury travel is heading as it does about the brand itself.

Fusion Hotel Group has opened Grand Royal Riverside Hue, a 161-room property under its Fusion Collection brand, positioned on the southern bank of the Huong River in Hue City, central Vietnam. The hotel welcomed its first guests recently, sitting adjacent to the Truong Tien Bridge, within a UNESCO-recognized heritage landscape that has drawn visitors to this part of the country for generations.

Spread across two towers at No. 02 Hung Vuong Street, the property is built around a concept called “A Tale of Two Times,” bringing together Indochine-inspired architecture, natural wood interiors, locally sourced materials, and jade-toned color schemes.

Jade and Ginger restaurant serves as the main dining space, offering a daily breakfast buffet and all-day dining with a menu built around Vietnamese staples, including bun bo Hue, pho, and banh mi, alongside Hue-specific specialties and select European dishes. Amber Lounge works as the hotel’s lobby lounge through the day, serving teas and freshly brewed coffee, before shifting into a bar setup in the evenings with wines, cocktails, and spirits.

Wellness has been the foundation of Fusion’s identity since its earliest properties, and Grand Royal Riverside Hue carries that forward through Sả Spa, named after the Vietnamese word for lemongrass. Four treatment rooms run by experienced therapists use locally sourced herbs and natural essential oils, supported by a fitness center, steam room, and skincare services.

Ha Tran, General Manager of the hotel, said, “In recent years, Hue has continued to strengthen its position as one of Vietnam’s most meaningful heritage destinations. With Grand Royal Riverside Hue, we are proud to introduce a riverside retreat that honors the city’s cultural legacy while embracing Fusion’s wellness-led hospitality. From design inspired by the Huong River to Sả Spa and Wellness and thoughtfully curated dining experiences, our goal is to offer guests a refined stay that feels unmistakably Hue, calm, restorative and deeply connected to place.”

For corporate and event needs, the hotel offers facilities for up to 370 guests, with co-working areas, lounges, reception spaces, and event venues built into the property. It runs as a full-service hotel rather than a niche retreat.

Christopher Hur, Chief Executive Officer of Fusion Hotel Group, said, “Hue is one of those rare cities where history isn’t the backdrop, it’s the whole point. Opening here is a deliberate move: it rounds out our Vietnam portfolio in a destination that demands authenticity. We’re not just adding keys; we’re planting a flag at a moment when travelers are increasingly seeking meaning alongside comfort, and we believe Fusion is uniquely positioned to deliver just that. Grand Royal Riverside Hue embodies everything that makes the Fusion Collection distinctive, a strong sense of place, wellness at its core, and experiences that couldn’t exist anywhere else.”

Vietnam’s travel corridor running through Hue, Hoi An, and Da Nang has seen consistent interest from hotel groups over the past decade. Hue has historically had fewer luxury hotel options compared to its neighbors, despite carrying strong cultural credentials as the seat of the Nguyen dynasty from 1802 to 1945 and home to a citadel complex that UNESCO recognized in 1993. Grand Royal Riverside Hue is Fusion’s entry into that space, bringing the group’s Vietnam portfolio to a city that amalgamates deep history with natural beauty.
