Roswyn debuts in Mumbai as Ennismore introduces Morgans Originals to India

The first Morgans Originals property in India is a 109-suite lifestyle hotel built around long stays, neighbourhood dining, and a longevity-focused wellness concept.

Morgans Originals, a collection of hotels under Ennismore, the lifestyle hospitality company behind brands like The Hoxton, SO/ Hotels, and 25hours, is built around the idea that each property should reflect the place it sits in rather than follow a fixed global template. Its first India address, Roswyn, opened recently, adjacent to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

India’s lifestyle hospitality market has been one of the fastest-growing in Asia, with international brands accelerating their entry into the country since 2022, driven by rising domestic travel and stronger consumer spending in the premium segment. Ennismore’s decision to enter through Mumbai, and specifically through the airport corridor, signals a clear intention.

Roswyn has 109 suites, each starting at 80 square metres, which is notably larger than what most urban business hotels in India offer. Every suite comes with a lounge area, kitchenette, home bar, and a dedicated study. The format is closer to a well-appointed apartment than a standard hotel room, and it reflects a broader shift in how long-stay business travellers now expect to be accommodated, with working space and living space treated as equally important.

Nitan Chhatwal, Managing Director of Shrem Airport Hotels, said, “Mumbai moves quickly. But people still look for places where they can slow down, meet, and spend time together. With Roswyn, we wanted to create something that feels easy to return to, whether that’s for dinner, conversations, or simply a pause in the day.”

Paris-based designer Daphné Desjeux led the interiors, and her approach was deliberate. Rather than reaching for obvious visual references to Mumbai, she worked with quieter, more personal details: embroidered portraits, ceramic plates marked simply with “Bombay,” and photographs of the city’s shoreline that capture its slower, less photographed side. The spaces are designed to open up gradually, rewarding guests who stay longer.

Fi’lia, Roswyn’s Italian restaurant, is part of Ennismore’s wider food and beverage portfolio and has presence across several of its international properties. Here, it is built around the idea of recipes passed down through generations, from grandmother to mother to daughter, expressed through Neapolitan-style pizzas, hand-rolled pastas, and a seasonal menu. Its ambition to function as a neighbourhood restaurant, not just a dining room for hotel guests, will be tested in a city where people take their food seriously and have no shortage of options.

Louis Abboud, Chief Growth Officer at Ennismore, said, “Lifestyle hospitality today is about far more than design-led hotels, it’s about creating culturally relevant destinations that become part of a city’s everyday rhythm. India is one of the most dynamic hospitality markets globally and an important focus for Ennismore’s growth. Roswyn, under Morgans Originals, marks our first hotel in the country, and an important step as we look to bring several more distinctive projects to the market in the years ahead.”

Black Lacquer is a Japanese listening bar built around vinyl records, a concept that has found a loyal following in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore over the last decade but has had little presence in Mumbai until now. It moves through different moods across the evening, starting quiet and conversational, growing more lively as the night goes on. The drinks list is short by design: sake, shochu, highballs, and a handful of original cocktails.

Ranju Alex, CEO of Accor South Asia, said, “At Accor, we see hospitality as an ever-evolving reflection of how people live, connect, and experience cities today. The opening of Roswyn, as part of Ennismore brands, marks an important milestone in bringing globally relevant, lifestyle-led hospitality to India. With Roswyn, we are not just introducing a new hotel, but a vibrant destination designed to integrate seamlessly into the cultural fabric of the city. This launch underscores our commitment to expanding our lifestyle portfolio in India, in partnership with Ennismore, and delivering distinctive experiences that resonate with the modern traveller.”

Roswyn Mumbai The Third Room

The Third Room is a social workspace within the property, designed for business travellers with time between flights, locals who need a place to meet, and guests who want to work without complete isolation. Blu Xone, the wellness facility, is focused on longevity. A Technogym fitness centre, infinity pool, and Tiny Town children’s zone are also part of the property.

Rajiv Kapoor leads the property as General Manager, a role he holds alongside his position at Fairmont Mumbai, with Annam Lubana as Hotel Manager. Kapoor said, “Mumbai doesn’t need more overt luxury. It needs places that understand how people actually want to experience the city and respond to that without getting in the way.”
