Louis Vuitton departed from its French roots to unveil its Cruise 2025 Women’s Collection in the stunning surroundings of Barcelona’s Park Güell. This architectural masterpiece, designed by the renowned Antoni Gaudí and completed in 1914, is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The location, where slate and limestone blend seamlessly with the lush local vegetation, provided a fitting backdrop for the new creations dedicated to Louis Vuitton’s love for travel. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Catalan architect Mr. Gaudí, the collection sees the beautiful influence of the visionary designs that define Park Güell.
One of the highlights was a dress featuring a fitted bodice with a scoop neckline, emphasizing a structured and elegant silhouette. The skirt of the dress transitions into layers of intricate ruffles, reminiscent of the ruffles seen in traditional Spanish flamenco dresses. The ruffles clearly draw inspiration from the dramatic and expressive nature of tango and flamenco dance costumes, which are known for their voluminous and flowing designs.
The use of laces added femininity to the otherwise bold and structured design. Elaborately embroidered robes, striking graphic patterns, and flowing draperies collectively define a daring style.
The exaggerated shoulders and clean lines are reminiscent of the sharp tailoring seen in traditional Spanish matador (bullfighter) outfits while Andalusian sombreros cordobés, the traditional straw hats, boast a glossy lacquer. Distinctive accessories like broad-brimmed hats, leather boots with fringes reminiscent of horse hooves, and sleek, futuristic sunglasses were the highlights.
Sequins added sparkle. The neutral color was punctuated by pops of bright shades. Designer Nicholas Ghesquiere continued his winning streak with this collection.
Models reminiscent of Amazonian warriors walked in the Hypostyle Room designed by set designer James Chinlund as a composition of ‘Music for Chameleons’ by Gary Numan and “Madame Butterfly” by Malcolm McLaren played in the background. Saoirse Ronan, Sophie Turner, Léa Seydoux, Jennifer Connelly, Liu Yifei, and Thai actress Yaya were in attendance.
