Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard, London festive dinner dish

Let London’s highest theatre performance dazzle you this festive season, as the ‘Revels in Hand’ team return to present ‘Christmas in the Clouds’. Commissioned especially for the festive period, Four Calling Birds transports guests to the Midwinter soirée of Richard Bleak, whose festive preparations are about to take a turn for the hilarious. Enjoy a night of elegance, glamour and comedy, without ever having to leave the hotel!

A delicious, special festive afternoon tea and an overnight stay will make Christmas special as you indulge in freshly made sandwiches and baked scones alongside delicate Christmas treats while enjoying views of London.

The hotel’s TING restaurant is offering a delicious four-course meal with perfectly paired fine wines. Dishes include feathered game terrine, artichoke and truffle risotto, venison loin and Cornish halibut. The restaurant’s Christmas Day lunch celebrates the best of British fare, which includes traditional roast Norfolk turkey and homemade Christmas pudding with brandy butter.

The cherry on the cake is the hotel’s Glass Christmas Tree. Working with students of the MA Interior and Spatial Design course at Chelsea College of Arts, the concept was inspired by novelist James Hilton’s book ‘The Lost Horizon’ and the hotel’s Glass Christmas theme. The ginkgo tree, a species native to China, was selected as the base for the seasonal installation to symbolise the meeting of East and West and a collective search for serenity – motifs explored in Hilton’s novel. Hundreds of glass bottles were recycled from the hotel’s restaurants and integrated into the design to promote sustainability in a season of excess.
