Designer duo Shantnu & Nikhil have launched their first standalone womenswear flagship at The Dhan Mill in New Delhi, marking a significant expansion beyond the menswear territory that built their name over the past two decades.

For over 20 years, Shantnu Mehra and Nikhil Mehra have been synonymous with sharp, contemporary menswear that reimagined traditional Indian silhouettes for modern sensibilities. Their bandhgalas and tuxedos have dressed Bollywood’s leading men and become fixtures on red carpets across the country. While they have created womenswear collections before, this flagship represents their first dedicated retail space entirely focused on dressing women for high-profile occasions.

Spanning 2,500 square feet, this space breaks from typical boutique formats. Designed in collaboration with Essentia Home, it centers around a bed and full wardrobe rather than conventional display racks. Visitors step into what feels more like a private dressing room than a store, a deliberate choice that shifts the experience from browsing to something more personal and unhurried.

Indian luxury retail has been evolving rapidly, with designers increasingly favoring flagship stores that offer immersive brand experiences over traditional multi-brand retail presence. Shantnu & Nikhil’s approach fits this broader movement, creating an environment where atmosphere and emotion take precedence over quick transactions.
“This space is designed around emotion. It’s about how a woman feels the moment she enters; comfortable, confident, and completely at ease,” said Nikhil Mehra.

“With Essentia Home, we wanted to create an environment that feels personal and expressive for women beyond wedding choices, a private world where glamour feels natural and confidence comes effortlessly,” adds Shantnu Mehra.
Design elements include corseted silhouettes, contoured peplums, and crystal-studded drapes, executed in a palette of rich, immersive tones. Essentia Home translated these aesthetic codes into spatial form, with furniture and fixtures designed to mirror what the brand describes as “fluid yet sculpted, soft yet strong” contrasts.

Monica Chawla of Essentia Home frames the collaboration as going beyond retail design. “Space is an extension of identity, layered, emotive, and alive,” she says. “With Shantnu & Nikhil, we didn’t just create a retail outlet; we built a couture sanctuary. Every curve and texture is designed to honor presence, elevate confidence, and transform a simple visit into a powerful experience.”

Hardesh Chawla said, “Collaborating with the duo was a rare opportunity to translate sartorial sensibility into spatial form. This flagship is designed to be felt before it is seen. We shaped a space that breathes, where every surface and shadow is deliberate, inviting the environment to tell its own story.”
Dhan Mill has become one of Delhi’s go-to destinations for luxury retail over recent years, attracting brands that prioritize curated experiences over high-footfall locations. By choosing this space, Shantnu & Nikhil are positioning themselves within a community of brands that value atmosphere and exclusivity.

This flagship focuses exclusively on red carpet dressing, a category distinct from the bridal and occasion wear that dominates Indian couture. The designers are building their womenswear around glamour and confidence, with corseted gowns and crystal-studded silhouettes designed for parties, premieres, and shows. Indian fashion has traditionally segmented women’s couture into bridal collections, but Shantnu & Nikhil are treating red carpet glamour as its own destination, complete with dedicated infrastructure and a clear aesthetic vision that prioritizes boldness and sensuality over conventional occasion wear.
