Founder François Paul Journe achieved legendary status as a watchmaker, blending a profound respect for horological traditions with a forward-thinking embrace of modernity in his approach to watchmaking. To pay homage to this unique gem of the horological world, The 1916 Company – a combined culmination of WatchBox, Govberg Jewelers, Radcliffe Jewelers and Hyde Park Jewelers, has orchestrated a traveling exhibition with more than 60 rare and exquisite pieces.
Showcasing extraordinary collections and generations of innovation, the exclusive exhibit will open for viewing and purchase starting February 29 at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami. Following this, the exhibition will relocate to The 1916 Company’s Collector’s Lounge in the Miami Design District for two days (March 1-2).
After traversing the United States, the showcase will conclude its journey in New York this spring, coinciding with the grand opening of The 1916 Journe Gallery, a permanent collection housing F.P. Journe’s timeless masterpieces.
Highlights from The 1916 Company’s GENERATIONS exhibition include the supremely important Tourbillon Souverain ‘Souscription’ Series No. 13/20, a ‘pre-souscription’ Chronomètre à Résonance, a complete Ruthenium set, and upon the occasion of Leap Day, unique and distinctive examples of F.P. Journe’s perpetual calendars.
Co-founder of The 1916 Company, Danny Govberg, said, “François-Paul Journe is one of the most talented and inventive watchmakers, constantly addressing the push and pull between perfecting a historical craft and looking to the future. Collectors around the world and across The 1916 Company community have taken note. We look forward to coming together to celebrate the complexities and beauty with this event and with our upcoming ‘perpetual’ collection. Journe continues to create, and we continue to discover his masterpieces.”
