Watch brand Omega names Neeraj Chopra as a brand ambassador

The announcement comes as the Indian track-and-field athlete gears up for the Paris Olympics 2024.

With just a few weeks to go until the Paris 2024 Olympics, India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra is gearing up to deliver his best performance. And so is the Swiss luxury watchmaker Omega. The brand has been the Official Timekeeper for nearly every Olympic Games since 1932. This will mark its 31st participation in Paris 2024.

Continuing its tradition of precision timekeeping, Omega has welcomed Mr. Chopra as its newest ambassador. To celebrate this partnership, the star athlete was invited to the OMEGA boutique in Doha, Qatar, ahead of his championship at the Wanda Diamond League.

Neeraj Chopra for Omega

Thrilled about his newest partnership with the brand, Mr. Chopra said, “I am very excited to be a part of such an iconic brand that plays such a huge role in timekeeping at the Olympic Games. I am looking forward to a great association with OMEGA and the upcoming spectacle in Paris.”

He further said, “It’s a very positive feeling to get associated with OMEGA as athletes need a lot of practice to fine-tune themselves, in the same way, OMEGA keeps on improving itself.”

As he looks ahead to the Paris Olympics 2024, Mr. Chopra is both excited and confident. In a conversation with SAI media in South Africa, the athlete said, “This is the best I have felt in a long time. My training sessions have gone off well…but I must add that training and competition are not the same.”

Mr. Chopra made history as the first track and field athlete to secure a gold medal for India at the Olympics. The 26-year-old became the first Indian track and field athlete to clinch victory at the World Under-20 Championships as well. In 2016, he swiftly gained widespread acclaim after setting a world U20 record with a remarkable throw of 86.48 meters, marking him as the first Indian athlete to achieve such a feat.

Since then, Mr. Chopra has continued to soar. Following his triumphant gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics, Chopra has added a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships to his accolades, swiftly followed by another gold at the subsequent edition. Setting a personal best throw of 89.94 meters, he clinched the 2022 Diamond League title. Moreover, he successfully defended his crown at the Asian Games last year.

Hailing from Haryana, India, the athlete is deeply passionate about inspiring and nurturing emerging talents. His unwavering resolve has only intensified as he gears up for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
