Arnold & Son is back with a diamond-encrusted moon and starry sky

The Swiss watchmaker reveals the limited-edition New Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide Haute Joaillerie Timepiece.

Arnold & Son added another gem, Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide, the latest addition to their ethereal collection of moon phase timepieces. This timepiece encapsulates the ebbing and flowing effect of this celestial body on the seas. Released in a limited edition of 18 pieces, the watch is designed for the feminine wrist. Arnold & Son had released a similar iteration of the Perpetual Moon 38 in 2023.

Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide

The 2024 lunar and marine-inspired timepiece is set with diamonds, mother-of-pearl marquetry, and ruthenium crystal inlays that portray a stunning celestial display of moonscape rising above undulating breakers topped with sparkling foam.

Fashioned from mother-of-pearl and ruthenium, blue and gray waves rise one after the other in a cascade of soft curves. All the carefully chosen elements depict a picture of the peaceful light of the moon as the ocean rages on beneath.

The starry sky is luminous with hand-painted constellations and a colossal ruthenium crystal moon. The mise en scène, illuminated by diamonds, commemorates the femininity and gracefulness resonant with the power of Arnold & Son’s artisanship. The watch is accompanied by a hand-sewn sky-blue satin alligator leather strap with plum purple alligator leather lining.

Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide

Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide is carved from a block of white gold, chiseled down to 38 mm diameter, and 10.44 mm thick case. The exquisitely embellished timepiece is adorned with IF-VVS round brilliant cut diamonds on the case and buckle, and marquise-cut diamonds on its dial coming to a total of 2.62 carats.

At 29.4 mm, the A&S1612 caliber has been measured to fit the case. The hand-wound movement eternizes the house’s heritage of calibers with long power reserves that can clock in 90 hours. The main feature of the A&S1612 movement is its moon phase. Adhering to Arnold & Son’s astronomical principle, Perpetual Moon 38 Night Tide showcases a moon disc similar in size to the caliber itself. The consecutive shapes of its crescent are nestled in the large aperture between 10 and 2 o’clock, while the form of its cut takes up the semblance of the moon.

Honoring its legacy, Arnold & Son has proffered this moon phase an accuracy of 122 years. Perpetually ascending, it will take more than a century for this moon to lag one day behind its real counterpart in the skies, watching over the oceans.
