With the world opening up again and everyone ready to take a trip here and there, a big thrust on staying safe and keeping healthy remains at the forefront. Though taking long holidays might not seem feasible at the moment, we are ready to break free from our never-ending WFH confines and explore quaint luxury getaways within the city.
Ideal for leisure travel, set in the urbane corridors of Kolkata, a Hyatt Regency sits in a picturesque easy location. Hyatt Regency Kolkata is an ideal haven for those who want some exquisite experience without the extreme hassle of pandemic travel or just relax in safe confines, just like one’s homes. And as a change of environment sounds appealing to everyone, this luxury abode gives you the much-needed vacay therapys!
Safe Just Like Home!
Centrally located in Kolkata, greeted by sprawling greenery and a dramatically-lit water feature in the uphill driveway, entering the glorious property leaves you spellbound and feel at ease immediately. The pick-up service was safe and contactless. The luggage is sanitised before being put into the car and you’re given extra masks, sanitizing wipes and sachets.
My check-in was seamless too. The hotel staff warmly welcomes you by approaching your car, checking your names, your temperature, ensuring you sanitize, and finally settle into the check-in area. Don’t you look for sanitisers the moment you step inside your house? Similarly, Kolkata’s Hyatt, being a safe haven, has also installed sanitisers in all of the common spaces.
My suite was on the 7th floor, offering a breath-taking sweep of the city and the iconic Salt Lake Stadium. Their warm housekeeping team made sure every touchpoint in the room was sanitised before you enter your suite. All the safety and hygiene precautions are as per global standards. The room’s simple décor, coupled with stunning views, scream warmth and relaxation, and you’ll actually find yourself leaving all of your worldly worries for some good days!
Suite Life Ahead
My ‘Regency King’ suite boasted the true secret of a ‘home-away-from-home’ holiday. A 75 sq. mt suite, it featured classic paintings, well-appointed Malaysian teak floors, a picturesque cornered work area and a large separate living room with a spectacular floor to ceiling window that made the entire space more stunning with the abundant sunlight shining through. It echoed a happy glow of home – a coffee and tea station in the working area, daylight peeping into and picking out the details of the couch and cushions in warm tones, a wow-inducing large mirror, a potted plant to match the aesthetics – and yes, for some great mirror OOTD images!
The lamps were strategically placed that brightly lit up the room at night with a view of sparkling car lights moving in a far-flung land. A set of two couches and sofa facing a large flatscreen telly opposite, you can spend your late nights curled up in your PJs, sipping your choice of wine and binge-watching your favourite show. Isn’t that just the perfect homely getaway?
The bedroom was spacious with inviting, world-class linen. The room featured another floor-to-ceiling window with a stunning poolside view. The king-size bed was actually too comfortable to get out of and offered excellent, peaceful sleep quality. A cosy, comfortable beige-toned single sofa-set was conveniently positioned by the window. I suggest the activity of daydreaming by looking at the vast expanse of the land and skyline that would comfort your senses! Mornings at the palatial suite are even more beautiful as you wake up to the gorgeous morning shine over the drapes and the warmth slowly entering the sheets.
The bath space, equally enticing, featured a sparkling Italian white marble floor and a bathtub with glass vanity and rain shower. The cruelty-free and vegan skincare products and a powerful shower made me feel at home. The highlight was the deep bathtub that presented a much-awaited pampering session opportunity. The housekeeping staff, as sweet and warm as they could be, are always there to provide you with the extra amenities that you need, whatever be the time! But, don’t forget to add a nice scented candle, a glass of wine and top it off with some soft jazz playing in the background to your bath. The experience was breathtakingly blissful, relaxing and a stress-free pampering session!
Ordering breakfast via their in-room dining menu was also a smooth process. The QR code took me to a nicely laid out digital menu. I could then dial through to in-room dining and place my order. The way they set up the table, complete with crockery, cutlery and snow-white linen, in the suite, and served the piping hot meal, was really impressive. The lavish breakfast spread of everything, from aloo-puri to scrambled eggs and hot tea, each dish was served to perfection with an even satisfying taste.
In & Around Hyatt
Visiting the splendid hotel just before New Year, the well-designed lobby was accentuated with festive lights and impressive décor, making sure that the joyous spirit of Kolkata immediately envelops you. The muted-colour tones of the lobby with large spaces have been systematically divided into smaller, more intimate areas. There’s a bakery in the lobby as well, allowing visitors to have the luxury of great conversations intertwined with tasty desserts.
The 234 luxury rooms, including 70 Regency Club rooms and 13 suites, come in various categories, offering something for every traveller. All of them are spacious and elegant cocoons with spectacular bathing areas. The décor indicates minimal extravagance with muted interiors, textured walls and separate living areas. It’s homely without feeling pretentious.
In these post-Covid times, most travellers are looking for various ways to break away from the city and plunge into a new life, far away from the monotony. The first place any human being would choose is a well-connected luxury yet a homely getaway and here’s where Hyatt Regency Kolkata tops it off! Their front-desk staff, the housekeeping team has been one of the warmest hotel staffs I have encountered, presenting a rare, well-knit experience of curated homeliness and lavish living. A special mention needs to be made to Bubu, one of the housekeeping staff members, who made me learn some skills of towel art. Warm, friendly and delightful, he was kind and patient enough to teach me how to make towel animals while I constantly struggled with the folds.
Hyatt Regency Kolkata resets the definition of a pleasurable and safe stay. Fulfilling one’s post-pandemic getaway and striking the perfect balance between relaxation and purpose – this abode is designed to relax in comfort and style.
