Christian Louboutin didn’t stage a traditional runway to introduce Jaden Smith’s first Men’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection. Instead, the Maison handed its new Men’s Creative Director the keys to an immersive exhibition—part gallery, part time machine—where shoes, cinema, and centuries of craftsmanship unfolded room by room.
From the outset, the message is clear: this is footwear with a point of view. Smith anchors the collection in the history of working men—stone masons, scribes, doctors—translating the tools, discipline, and quiet authority of those roles into contemporary design. It’s a collection built around purpose, where elegance comes from labor rather than ornament.
The journey began in the Projection Room, where Christian Louboutin’s signature red is no longer just a color but a beam of light. Referencing early cinematic pioneers like Niépce, Daguerre, and the Lumière brothers, Smith turns the space into a meditation on how movement and image first shaped identity. FW26 shoes glide across flickering screens, layered with textures and architecture, their silhouettes framed by the ghostly outline of a medieval castle—history literally projected onto the future of Louboutin Men.
From there, the exhibition sharpens its focus on the shoes themselves. The Trapman silhouette opens the collection with a nod to 1990s hip-hop, an era Smith credits as foundational to his design philosophy. Bold, grounded, and unapologetic, the style channels the energy of street culture while maintaining the precision and polish expected of the brand.
Next comes the Corteo, a familiar Louboutin style reintroduced as the collection’s formal anchor. First launched in FW19, the shoe is revisited as a symbol of discipline and presence—tailored, deliberate, and quietly powerful. In Smith’s hands, Corteo becomes a uniform for modern builders: businessmen, working professionals, and anyone who shows up with intent.
Loafers get their moment in three distinct interpretations, stretching the classic Penny loafer beyond its comfort zone. Alongside the traditional version, slingback and sandal variations play with openness and proportion, offering a more relaxed yet design-conscious take on a heritage silhouette. At the other end of the spectrum sits the TCT I, the collection’s most technical statement. Designed as the footwear equivalent of a tactical waterproof jacket, it leans into function—protective, adaptable, and engineered for movement.
Between shoe displays, the exhibition keeps pulling visitors back into reflection. Styles perch atop antique columns, referencing the allegory of the Virgin Weeping over a Broken Column—a poetic nod to knowledge and craftsmanship passed down through generations. Nearby, a wall of vintage television screens loops fragments of history, from major world events to quiet everyday moments, underscoring how images quietly shape collective memory.
Photography adds another tactile layer. Some images of the collection are created using early photographic techniques, developed by hand with silver and chemical solutions, embracing imperfection and process. Others appear as glowing red negatives, a subtle wink to Louboutin’s iconic sole and his enduring obsession with color.
The experience culminates in a dramatic finale: a monumental, exploded red head dominating the final space. Part sculpture, part display, it acts as a visual exclamation point—bold, surreal, and unmistakably Louboutin.
Ahead of the full collection’s June retail arrival, Smith offers a first taste of his universe through an avant-première capsule launching January 22 in select boutiques and online. Rendered in a strict palette of red, black, and white, the capsule revisits key silhouettes while introducing more experimental designs.
With his FW26 debut, Smith doesn’t just present shoes; he builds a world around them—one where history, culture, and craftsmanship walk confidently into the future, red sole first.
