Jaipur Rugs has launched its new ‘Playing with Tradition’ collection in collaboration with Dutch designer Richard Hutten at Salone del Mobile, Milan. The luxury rug company is also showcasing exclusive collections from Tatiana de Nicolay, Peter D’Ascoli, and VIMAR 1991.

The ‘Playing with Tradition’ collection represents Jaipur Rugs’ commitment to combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design, where Mr. Hutten has reimagined classical rug designs by introducing 3D textures and vibrant patterns that bring new energy to traditional motifs.

Inspired by India’s Holi festival, the collection blends centuries-old hand-knotting techniques with contemporary aesthetics. The rugs feature dynamic shades reflecting the Festival of Colors, with playful elements referencing silent film comedy, including whimsical banana motifs. Crafted from natural wool, these pieces are designed to be long-lasting heirlooms.

“This year’s collection is a true celebration of our commitment to innovation and craftsmanship,” said Rutvi Chaudhary, Director at Jaipur Rugs. “The Playing with Tradition collection, along with our collaborations with Tatiana de Nicolay, Peter D’Ascoli, and VIMAR 1991, perfectly embodies Jaipur Rugs’ philosophy of bridging heritage with modernity. Showcasing these collections at Salone del Mobile, Milano provides a global platform to connect with design enthusiasts from all over the world, and we are thrilled to see how the fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design resonates on such a grand stage,” she further added.

The company is also featuring Tatiana de Nicolay’s “Jardins du Monde” collection, which draws inspiration from iconic gardens worldwide. From Paris’s Albert Kahn gardens to the English countryside, this collection captures nature’s tranquility. Each rug tells a unique story that reflects botanical beauty and cultural heritage.

Peter D’Ascoli’s Gilded Age Collection fuses 19th-century Parisian flea market inspiration with Hollywood Regency glamour, incorporating chintz florals, paisleys, and neoclassical motifs to create timeless works that balance past grandeur with present-day sophistication.

The VIMAR 1991 Atelier Collection, created with the Chanel-owned yarn atelier, features luxurious monochrome threads and intricate patterns reminiscent of haute couture fashion.

Jaipur Rugs maintains a strong commitment to sustainability and ethical practices, ensuring fair wages, healthcare, and educational opportunities for its artisans. These new collections are currently available at Jaipur Rugs’ flagship stores and select global retail partners.
