In the same year that Montblanc’s Meisterstück was launched and gave impetus to the German Maison’s journey of producing writing instruments suffused with the highest European craftsmanship, the Olympic Games united the countries of the world to host high-caliber athletic and sports competition on the global stage. It was in 1924 when participants from transcending nations convened for the 8th Olympic Games in Paris, and for the first ever Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix, in the vicinity of the Mont Blanc mountain.
As Paris 2024 approaches, the Meisterstück x Olympic Heritage line pays tribute to the centenary of its penmanship heritage as well as the 1924 Olympic Games.
A product of vigorous research and enriching dialogues with the Olympic Museum and the International Olympic Committee, the Meisterstück x Olympic Heritage Collection highlights the art and design of past Olympic Games on display.
The Meisterstück x Olympic Heritage Paris 1924 Resin LeGrand features a warm shade of red that mirrors the official color of the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924. Its handcrafted solid Au 585 gold nib is emblazoned with a javelin thrower, a reference to a vintage Olympic poster from that year.
The Olympic Rings, part of the Olympic Heritage logo inscribed on the cap top ring, embody the events of the Olympic Movement. The Olympic Heritage logo, in turn, is circumscribed by an encircling wreath of leaves, reminiscent of those awarded as the highest honor to winners at the Olympic Games of Antiquity.
The cap is imprinted with the words “Olympic Games Paris 1924” inside a frame evocative of the cover of the official Games report. Ingrained in the precious coral-colored resin on the cap top is the Montblanc emblem, a code of the house since 1913 that incorporates the German-based Maison’s trailblazing spirit and aspiration in molding writing culture.
The Meisterstück x Olympic Heritage Chamonix 1924 Edition comprises three different versions: a Classique Edition crafted from precious resin in a hue similar to the official blue-gray color of the Olympic Winter Games; a Doué Edition, a fusion of a precious resin barrel with a platinum-coated cap boasting an etching of the mountain landscape of the Chamonix valley; and a Solitaire Edition with a platinum-coated cap and barrel embellished with the same engraving.
The caps of all editions are incised with the words “Olympic Winter Games Chamonix 1924” within a cartouche. The illustration of the ski jumper on the handcrafted solid Au 750 gold nib draws inspiration from graphic works done for the Olympic Winter Games Chamonix 1924.
The Montblanc Meisterstück x Olympic Heritage Paris and Chamonix 1924 range has a diverse product portfolio: a fountain pen, a ballpoint pen, and a rollerball. To complement the writing instrument collection, Montblanc is offering Meisterstück x Olympic Heritage Paris and Chamonix 1924 Inks in original red and blue, proffered in a square glass ink bottle. Special edition notebooks reveal original artwork and typography from the Olympic Games Paris 1924 and the Olympic Winter Games Chamonix 1924, introducing an aesthetic experience.
