Montblanc has announced the third and final instalment of its Meisterstück Around the World in 80 Days collection, inspired by Jules Verne’s classic novel. The latest edition focuses on the concluding 36-day voyage from Yokohama to London, completing the journey that started in previous releases covering London to Bombay and Bombay to Yokohama.
The delightful collection consists of four writing instrument editions and matching accessories that pay tribute to Phileas Fogg’s return. The primary mode of transport for this leg of the journey was the train, which is reflected in the cap design of each edition. The cap features an engraved smoke pattern inspired by a steam locomotive, along with pressure valve illustrations. A train locomotive is depicted on the cap’s cartouche, while the cone is detailed with rivets and chains representing train carriage connections.
A red lacquered heart embellishes the clip of each edition, symbolizing both the wager that set Fogg’s journey in motion and his love for Aouda, whom he rescues in India. The handcrafted nib features an engraving of a hot air balloon, referencing Mr. Verne’s earlier novel Five Weeks in a Balloon, along with the dates marking the journey from Yokohama to London. The cap top includes the number “80” for the total planned journey duration and “36” for the time taken to complete the final leg.
The Meisterstück Around The World in 80 Days Resin Classique & LeGrand edition comes with a polished dark blue resin cap and barrel, adorned with a milled smoke pattern and a lasered train cartouche. Ruthenium-coated fittings accentuate the design, and it is available as a Fountain Pen with an Au 585/14K gold nib, a Rollerball, or a Ballpoint.
The Meisterstück Around The World in 80 Days Doué Classique Edition features a dark blue resin barrel and a ruthenium-coated cap etched with the smoke pattern and pressure valves, with the train cartouche lasered on the side. This edition is available as a Fountain Pen with an Au 750/18K gold nib, a Rollerball, or a Ballpoint.
For a bolder look, the Meisterstück Around The World in 80 Days Solitaire LeGrand Edition has a ruthenium-coated cap and barrel with dark blue lacquered smoke patterns and pressure valve engravings. The train cartouche is lasered on the cap’s side, and it is offered as a Fountain Pen with an Au 750/18K gold nib, a Rollerball, or a Ballpoint.
The Meisterstück Around The World in 80 Days Limited Edition 811 is the most intricate of the collection, with its design reflecting Fogg’s passage through eight cities and 11 nations. The barrel is crafted from black structured lacquer, mimicking a locomotive’s rugged structure, and is framed by two Au 750 solid gold rings. An Au 750 solid gold inlay represents the pressure valves, while the Ag 925 sterling silver cap features an etched smoke pattern and a train journey cartouche cast in Au 750 solid gold.
Referencing the card game wager that initiated Fogg’s travels, the Au 750/18K gold nib is engraved with all-card suits and is adorned with a 1.5mm black spinel, symbolizing coal used to fuel locomotives. The Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl is set in black onyx.
The collection also includes a fine stationery set featuring a blue leather notebook embossed with a map charting Fogg’s American journey and a special blue ink available in cartridges or bottles. Matching accessories include stainless steel hot air balloon cufflinks, a tie bar, and a money clip featuring the same balloon motif amid a cloud design.
A collection that painstakingly captures Phileas Fogg’s spirit of adventure and daring, the third and final instalment of the Montblanc Meisterstück Around The World in 80 Days Collection will be available from April 2025 at Montblanc boutiques worldwide and online.
